I can’t front. I doubt P will ever duplicate the magic that was made with the first HNIC LP. That album is real rap raw. Yet for as long as he’s putting out hits, as a loyal Mobb Deep fan, I’m down for whatever. The good boys at Complex Magazine dropped this today, so it should definitely be a heavy hitter. There are a few appearances from French Montana, Estelle, Corey Gunz, and of course, P’s right hand man, Havoc. Just so we’re clear, P is back…like a boss.
As promised last week, the 7 track emo EP by Aleon Craft dropped today and it’s all I could expect from him and SMKA. This is a collection of songs about love and happiness, joy and pain, trials and triumph. Expect this project to expand a bit by next month, as Craft is already working on a deluxe edition. Give this to your valley and see where it gets you. (Available via DatPiff)
As it turns out, Joe Cool is a big deal. This is his latest project, and oh boy. Most of the album is produced by him, and is worthy of your ears. Check this one out for sure and tell’em I sent’cha.
Philly rep Small Pro has begun to cook on the megaton level as of late. I recently dug into his many “jawns” that have been released over time. Now after two years of preparation, he has dropped a project that should grab any true head’s attention. This 14 track all Small Pro production features artists Von Pea, Guilty Simpson, Has-Lo, and many more potent lyricists. If you’ve been a fan of Small Pro for a while, you’ve been waiting for this project for quite a while. It’s now available on iTunes and Amazon.
Seems like the streets have been waiting forever for the third installment from the fiery rapper known as Saigon. The wait is over, and this may be the best installment yet. This one is almost twenty tracks deep, with appearances from Joe Budden and Lil’ Fame (of M.O.P.). Real. Rap. Raw.
This is my newest podcast project, promoting music from all walks of life. If you love authentic hip-hop, rap, classic and modern jazz, and R&B music, this is where you need to be. My weekly podcast will feature both artists you have, and have not heard of before. Hosted by none other than myself, Alkali from HQ.
